Clothing & Accessories

Stanley Market

Stanley market, located in Stanley, is a popular stop on the shopping trail for visitors and residents alike. The wide range of clothing and accessories includes shoes, sleepwear, silk robes and plenty of great children’s clothes. Ideal if you are gift hunting as there are plenty of stalls selling Chinese artifacts, general knickknacks and pictures of old Hong Kong.

Shanghai Tang

Known for its array of magnificently hued silks, Shanghai Tang is now a worldwide institution with stores in Singapore, London and New York.
Hong Kong is where it all started, however, and the 12,000 square foot flagship store leaves nothing to be desired. Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing are available and if you wish to have something custom made, in-store tailors can create any item of clothing to your liking, with a broad selection of silks to choose from.
Shanghai Tang also has a wonderful gift section offering such items as silk slippers, diaries, photo albums, silk bathrobes and sleepwear.

The Mall at Shenzhen Station

(When you exit the station you will see a set of steps to your right, leading up to a pedestrian overpass. The mall is located just at the top of these steps – it’s hard to miss, just look for the most imposing building immediately outside the station!)
This enormous mall located just outside Shenzhen station is a shopper’s paradise, with knock-off bags, wallets, watches, purses, sunglasses and other accessories from every brand name known to man. It is also a popular spot for tailored clothing. Take a picture, existing item of clothing or pattern with you, choose a material from row upon row of available fabrics and present it all to one of the numerous tailors located on the 5th floor. Skirts, jackets, suits, soft furnishings and other items can be made to measure. Tailoring can be completed on the same day, although, it is advisable to allow them a little time to complete your garments. If you provide your tailor with your name and address in Hong Kong, your finished goods will be sent to you within a week. It is a good idea to limit your order to one or two pieces initially, to ensure that you are happy with the work your tailor is doing.
Remember to negotiate all prices. Never pay the first price you are offered – you should get at least 30% off, depending on what you are buying.

Holders of American, Korean, Japanese and some European, passports may purchase a five-day visa at the Shenzhen border for about HK$100. All other nationalities are required to apply for a visa whilst still in Hong Kong. You should allow 3 working days for application.
A single or double entry visa costs HK$170 or HK$300 respectively and are both valid for three months. A multiple entry visa, valid for 6 months and unlimited visits, costs HK$700.
